Brittany Sullivan Strives To Place A Fun Center!

September 23, 2008

Brittany Sullivan, Starlight MidAtlantic’s Teen Ambassador and Miss Teen Maryland International 2008 is working in the community, her goal is to place a Fun Center.  As the reigning Miss Teen Maryland International she has selected Starlight MidAtlantic as her platform to ensure that peers her age get involved in their communities to help others. As Starlight MidAtlantic’s Teen Ambassador, Sullivan has a personal goal to raise awareness and funds for the Starlight Fun Center in order to help distribute more units to local hospitals. Fun Centers are mobile entertainment units that wheel bedside and provide hours of distractive therapy to hospitalized children.  We are excited to announce that she is over half to her goal!

She will put the unit in honor of her grandfather who has recently passed away. She is a valued member of the Starlight MidAtlantic team and we would like to offer her our support as continues her campaign.   If anyone has any questions or would like to personally wish Brittany good luck, please email her at ambassadors@starlight-midatlantic.org

Cooking it up at J. Sargeant’s Culinary School

September 16, 2008

We had a blast at J. Sargeant Reynolds School of Culinary Arts this past weekend.  We started the night by creating our own personal chef hats.  All the chefs at the school made us feel so welcome in their kitchen and helped us make so many goodies.  We started off by making homemade pasta and pizza sauce.  Then me moved on to meatballs and homemade pasta.  The boys and Mandi loved squishing their hands in the meatball bowl the most.  We had so much fun making the pasta.  We tried to see how long we could make our pasta and it was so long we ended up having to cut it before we could cook it.  Then we moved on to making our own personal sized pizza.  Rachel got her hands covered in pizza dough and we thought she was never going to it off.  We worked as a team to create our entire dinner.  Last we made hot fudge and whip cream from scratch.  Rachel and Jordan got caught licking the bowl.  The students at the school made us homemade ice cream for desert.  It thawed out a little too much so it was a little soupy, but we didn’t care because it was still very yummy!  Trevor spent most of the night working on his hat and it paid off since he won the best chef’s hat contest.   I would like to thank all the chefs at J. Sargeants Reynolds School of Culinay Arts for sharing their time and talents with us.
